Daily Word for Lenten Season - March 7

“Wept”

A grief visibly shown. The grief most often spoken is of a loss most unbearable. Yet even as Jesus wept he knew God was with him and he did not lose all hope. As we struggle with loss can we say that hope is not all lost? I yearn for the weeping to turn into joy in the morning.=

Prayer: Lord, we share our deepest longings and our deepest hurts with you. Satisfy our desires, heal our wounds, and bring us into the joy of the Lord. Amen.

“Rest”

Is this what is left over? Or is this what will rejuvenate us? Even God rested before we hear the rest of the story. Some of us long for eternal rest, but I think after a while that might get kind of boring. So maybe the rest God gives us will be that rest which will rejuvenate us to live into the rest of eternity.

Prayer: Lord, help us to see the value of rest in this life and look forward to a more complete rest as we live the rest of our life. Amen.

Daily Word for Lenten Season - March 4

“Peace”

Peace seems to be an elusive quality in our era. Not only do wars erupt often around the globe, but even our own “peaceful” process of changing leadership seems to have lost any sense of peace. Perhaps that is helpful, because it reminds us that there is only one way to be guaranteed peace and that is through the King of Peace, Jesus. How is Jesus helping you receive peace today?

Prayer: Lord, we long for peace in our lives. Help us not to forget that you are the one that brings us peace beyond all understanding. Bring us this day, if even for only a moment, your peace. Amen.
