Daily Word for Lenten Season - March 4

Peace seems to be an elusive quality in our era. Not only do wars erupt often around the globe, but even our own “peaceful” process of changing leadership seems to have lost any sense of peace. Perhaps that is helpful, because it reminds us that there is only one way to be guaranteed peace and that is through the King of Peace, Jesus. How is Jesus helping you receive peace today?

Prayer: Lord, we long for peace in our lives. Help us not to forget that you are the one that brings us peace beyond all understanding. Bring us this day, if even for only a moment, your peace. Amen.

Daily Word for Lenten Season - March 3

This is the foundation of our faith. This is the core of our belief. As Christians we know that we can’t earn our salvation, we can only admit that we need God’s mercy to become the people we were created to be. So let us offer to others what we have already been given to keep God’s grace active in our lives.

Prayer: Lord, we don’t deserve what we have received from you, but as our children you have asked us to pass forgiveness on to those around us. Help us to forgive someone today who does not deserve it, just as we have been forgiven by you. Amen.

Daily Word for Lenten Season - March 2

Is being "poor" ever a good thing? It seems many who are poor struggle to survive and yet many who are poor seem to have the richest life. Jesus says in Luke “yours is the kingdom of God.” Perhaps those who are poor are not distracted from material accumulation, that isn’t an option for them. Perhaps we can learn from those less fortunate than we are. Perhaps they are closer to the gifts of God because they have less to get in the way.

Prayer: Lord, help us to share with those in need, but also help us to learn from them. Help us to learn what is truly of value in this life that the kingdom of God will also be ours. Amen.
