Daily Word for Lenten Season - February 19

Why don’t we ask? Is it because we are afraid of the answer “No!” Or is it because we are afraid of the answer “Yes!” Or maybe we are afraid we will receive no answer at all to our question. I think God made us to take initiative, just as He is the creator, the Great Initiator, of which we are the image. Why not ask, at least it will be the beginning, n’est-ce pas?

Prayer: Lord, help us to have the courage to ask. This we ask in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Daily Word for Lenten Season - February 18

Interesting that yesterday we “looked” at the word “light.” To day we consider a word which is used to make sure we are watching what is around us or this word can be used with emphasis accompanying the phrase “I told you so.”  We can see without using our eyes, but can we really see without God’s inspiration?

Prayer: Lord, you know what I need to see and what is not necessary for me to see. Help me to be more concerned about the former than the latter. Amen.

Daily Word for Lenten Season - February 17

Light is the opposite of darkness, but also opposite of heavy. Think about those times when you feel heavy, weighed down, overwhelmed, or under a lot of pressure. How can you be lifted up? I think sometimes when I feel inspired, a touch from God perhaps, I am no longer engulfed by darkness, but I have seen some light. It may be at the end of the tunnel, but at least it gives me a hope that soon gloom will be shattered by light.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust you in the midst of heaviness as well as in the midst of darkness. Amen.
