Summer Words

This is something we all feel at times. Even though we may have a relationship with the Creator and Father of the universe there will be times when we feel we are walking this journey alone. We will wonder, where are those around us who had committed to be by our side. We may even wonder where is God, when we need him so badly. Yet we need to know this, that God will never abandon us. We will be alone and we may even feel lonely, but God is here with us, with you, this is his promise. Remember Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob? In the pit, in Potiphar’s house, even in prison God was with Joseph. God saw that Joseph fulfilled his calling to bring restoration to his family. So God will see you through also.

Lord, help us to remember the times when you have met us at our worst moments. Help us to remember those times when you came to the aid of those we read about the bible who were so desperate for you help. Help us to take confidence in your love and mercy, knowing that you will come in our great time of need. Come, Lord Jesus, come. Amen.

Summer Words

The breath of God. That is what gives us life. That is what keeps us living. That is what speaks the words that give us a certain future and hope to live lively. It is amazing to think that it is because of your death we are given not only a life worth living, but a life which will be eternal.

Lord, thank you for our breath. Thank for creating us, for embracing us, and for sustaining us. Lord, you give us life without a cost to us, but also you give us everlasting life with a cost all paid by you. Help us to live the life you give us fully and joyfully. May we always praise your name. Amen.

Summer Words

This is an important word for Christians. I think we need to remember that none of us has a monopoly on truth. We are always learning new ways to understand who God is and how to grow in our relationship to him, or her, or whatever designation you want to give the eternal being in whom’s image we are created. I admit I have an addiction to reading books, but then quite often and sometimes very abruptly, I am reminded that it is the Spirit which teaches us what we truly need to know. Maybe today is a good day to take out just a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you something special today.

Lord, thank you for letting us be challenged in this world. It would be boring if we knew everything, though it might be helpful to know a little bit more than what we know already. But Lord, help us never to quit learning. Help us to never lose the desire to know you more and to know our fellow pilgrims more. You are amazing and so are they. Give us the desire to use our heads, hearts, and hands to know this universe which you created and we look forward to what you have to teach us today. Amen.
