Summer Words

There are three worlds for us to explore. Most people like to explore the outer world, that which is all around us. There is so much to see and so many places to be. Yet we are more aware of our surroundings if we explore our inner world as well. What makes us tick? What causes our emotions to soar or to plummet? Who we are becoming. These two worlds, the world around us and the world within us, are worlds we can find intriguing and inspiring as they are worlds we most readily explore. But the third world, the world of others, is a world which can be just as exhilarating. If we are willing to enter that third world our vision can change as we learn to see what other people see. That third world can help us grow as we walk others in the shoes of others. That third world can be truly satisfying as we realize how rich our life experience can be if we are just willing to explore this world through the hearts of others.

Lord, help me to relish the creation I get to explore. Lord, help me to be grateful for the wonder I discover my self exploration. Lord, help me to be open to explore the differences I find in others and embrace a world rich and varied, knowing that all of it is created by you. Lord, help me to always be ready to explore new frontiers knowing you guide us and watch over us in all our explorations. Amen.

Summer Words

What does it mean to be in exile? It means to be displaced from your home. It means to be in a place other than where your true home is. Some of us feel we are not truly at home on this earth. We long for a place where there is no more sorrow and no more pain. A place where joy and freedom reign. A place that some may call heaven, but definitely a place that everyone can call home. We are fortunate to be in this land, but we are not in our true home. We can be thankful for where we live, but this is not the place for which we were truly made. We were made to live in God's country and we won't arrive there until we touch eternity. This place is not our home, but we can learn to live here we just need to be ready to go home when we are called to move on..

Lord, we are grateful for the homes you give us, but we know that you build a place for us which will be our true home. That place will be filled with friends and family. We will sing with the choirs who have sung for centuries glory to your name. Let us not get too comfortable here for we are just passing through, going to a place that will be our home for eternity. Amen.

Summer Words

I don't know any other word that I long to hear. No matter what our station in life, not matter what accomplishments we have made, there is nothing like receiving encouragement from those you love. Life can be difficult enought without having to hear criticism. It is not wrong to know when you need to do better, but I think most of us know when we have failed to do our best. Most of us know what we need to do to make better choices in life. There are enough people and circumstances that will knock you down, from those you trust and care about you it is better to be encouraged than to be judged.

Lord, help us to be the ones to offer encouragement to our loved ones. Help us to develop the habit to see that which is done rightly and well and to let others know when they have done that. Lord, such a habit can not only bring better things to this world, but we may even find ourselves encouraging those we don't know, but long to hear such words as well. Amen.
