Community in Action August 1, 2020

Tomorrow we will have our first Outdoor Worship. It will be a mixture of our Praise Band, previously recorded during the week, live messages, children’s and adult, and virtual and live communion. I want to thank so many on the Worship Team, committee members, audio/visual volunteers, and staff people, for helping us put this together.

We don’t know how it will turn out, but just the fact that it is being done is credit to the creativity, adventurous spirit, and commitment we find in the people of our faith community. Also we have almost twenty people signed up, not including the those involved in worship, we have identified the challenge and met it head on.

So it is with the last four months. Changes in our pattern of living, changes in our work situation, changes in our priorities, and changes in our understanding of who we are as a nation.

We are a nation which leads the world in cases of Covid-19 and in deaths from such a disease, but we are also resilient in our endeavors to surmount the challenges which tax our resources, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. I believe we can become stronger in our faith as we continue to seek God’s guidance to be a faithful people who have concern not just for our own well-being, but for the well-being of others around us.

We must continue to be a people of compassion, integrity, and hope. We may be called upon to sacrifice more than we want, we may be asked to be more generous than we had planned, we may even be challenged to accept a brother or sister whom we don’t normally listen to, but this is the calling of a follower of Jesus.

I am so grateful that this congregation is committed to being together even under extremely trying times. I hope that we will also be committed to reaching out to people who are in need, whether it is a listening ear, helping hand, or justice. I look forward to worshipping with those here in the courtyard as well as those watching on Facebook Live.

We don’t know if this will be the protocol for the month of August or not, but we will be taking off at 9:30 am tomorrow morning. Fasten your seat belts. Here we come. Praise God!!

    Blessings,

    Pastor Randy
