Community in Action July 5, 2020

Tomorrow morning Joan and I plan to leave for Washington to welcome our newest granddaughter to this world. Mazie Leigh was welcomed by her sisters Lincoln Rose and Morgan Jane on the 22nd of June. We plan to drive there in one day, while only stopping for gas and necessary pit stops.

I will not be sending out a daily reflection during this next week, but I encourage you to read through Philippians 2:6-11 one verse for each day. This is considered one of the oldest hymns of our faith written to remind us of who Jesus was and what Jesus did for us.

I would suggest you read through all six verses each day at one time. Then read a new verse each day starting Monday with verse six and ending with verse eleven on Saturday. In your second reading take time to considered if there is a word that jumps out at you. What does that word mean to you? Have you read this word before in Paul’s letter to the Phiippians? How has it been used before? (If you need help finding more instances of this word you can use Biblegateway to find its use throughout Philippians. If you need help knowing how to use the tools for repetition of your word email me and I can tell you how to do that.)

After the second reading reflect on this word and make some notes in a journal. I suggest you read the verse one more time and ask what is another word you would put in its place. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember this word throughout the day and make it more relevant in your daily life.

At the end of the day make some more notes in your journal. If you feel so inclined share with a person the next day about your reflection on this word.

I look forward to hearing from you about your journey this next week.

    Blessings to you,

    Pastor Randy
