Perhaps today is the day we need to reaffirm Psalm 100. It starts with, “Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”

No matter what is going on in our life. No matter what the election results are. No matter what challenges we face today, our God is still LORD of all the earth. We can take comfort in knowing that God is here for us.

The government of any nation is human made. The government will do great things and that government will make mistakes. I believe most people in government are trying to do what they think is best, but they will never be able to account for all the concerns that arise in our world.

A government, even a democracy, is an experiment in order and goodness. That is why we, the people who are being governed, still needed to be involved. The people who are governed need to be the ones to put into practice the compassion which God gives us to guide the enactment of the guidelines the government gives us.

Thankfully the Spirit of God is still also actively involved in our world. The Comforter or Paraclete is with us, as Jesus said, to help give us insight and the capacity to strive to make this world a better place.

I heard it said recently that no matter which party or person holds office or position in our country we, the people, still need to be the ones who live out the care and concern God asks us to have for each person on this planet.

There is no question in my mind that God longs for us to embrace everyone who is in need. We are to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God at all times. It is when we do this that we not only reaffirm the first two verse of Psalm 100, but we also reaffirm the last verse, verse 5, “For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

May we be the witness Jesus call us to be now and forever,

    Pastor Randy
