Community in Action October 17, 2020

Yesterday was a great day. It was the first day of our new Youth Ministries Director Howard Lee. You will have a chance to meet him and his family this Sunday in our Outdoor Worship. He was an unanimous first pick from our search team. I had the great opportunity to be in on the second interview where we talked for two hours and he still wanted to join our community of faith, of course.

But yesterday was also a great day because it was Boss’s day. Yup, I received a cool interactive card which you can see if you come by the office. I was treated to lunch and we had Howard and his two kids with us also.

You may not be aware but we have a stellar staff. We are a staff which supports each other in prayer and in listening to each other’s joys and concerns. We are a staff which seeks to live out our job as a calling to ministry not just a daily place we go to earn a paycheck.

As we move into the season of stewardship commitment I ask you to prayerfully consider how you can support this ministry financially. I know for some it has been really rough with the shelter in place restrictions, but we are here also to pray for you so don’t hesitate to give us a call or drop us an email.

We continue to try to think of creative ways to do Communion, Baptisms, Trunk and Treat, the upcoming Christmas Pageant, Music Sunday, and the Candle Light Christmas Eve service. We are also trying to provide a welcoming place for all who are seeking a spiritual connection. We are here for you.

You will see when we present our upcoming budget proposal that at least 75% of the budget is for personnel expenses. I don’t know any staff member who does not work more than they requested hours and don’t have the ministry of John Knox Presbyterian Church one of their highest priorities, God and family being first and second.

So please help us to continue the great work God has given us to help you live out your calling to God’s purpose in this world.

I am grateful to serve in this community with you, may we live into the calling God has given us.

    Blessings,

    Pastor Randy
