Community in Action September 2, 2020

We have been trying to use different ways to connect with people in our congregation. The Deacons have started to hold a zoom meeting at 11:00 am on Sundays after our worship service for any and all people to join a time of conversation. I know two bible studies that are using zoom (see the Newsletter) to continue their meeting together.

The Men’s Friday Morning Bible study met last Friday for the first time in five months at a socially distant venue and I know Litwits, as well.

Starting today, if you had a chance to read the Newsletter you would see it advertised, I will be offering a one hour time to chat on zoom about any of your thoughts, concerns, insights, or questions you might like to share with others.

All are welcome to this “Chat with the Pastor” and below will be a zoom link to join us. Due to certain changes in zoom’s policy there will be a waiting room which I will keep an eye on so if you can’t join us right at 1:30 pm you can join anytime before 2:30 pm.

The other event we are trying this Sunday is a drive-up communion. We will have communion virtually on Facebook Live for Sunday during the service, but if you would like to take communion with others in our congregation join us in the church parking lot at 11:00 am.

We will have someone handing out pre-filled communion cups, with wafers sealed in the top of the cup, to those who drive up to the gate next to the kitchen. Just tell them how many are in your car and we will have you park on the north side of the parking lot facing the Co-op yard.

At 11:15 am I will share some words about communion and we will share our wafers and cups together. Communion is normally a community event so this will allow us to meet as a community in cars in the parking lot together.

We have seen in our study on Philippians how vital a sense of community is for our faith. Paul constantly reminds the people in Philippi that they need to be part of the community as they grow in their faith.

I look forward to seeing you at Worship this Sunday or in the parking lot for communion or at the Zoom Chat with the Pastor today or just around town. Thanks for your partnership in celebrating the good news of Jesus Christ to our world.
