From Our Missionaries in South Sudan
Warm greetings to you in the name of our Savior! We hope that you are doing well. We want to thank you again for your faithful financial contributions and your prayers for our ministry in South Sudan. We are very grateful for you and your partnership with us in this ministry.
This is a difficult season in South Sudan. Food insecurity has reached crisis levels and there continues to be attacks and insecurity in many regions. The United Nations is no longer providing food aid to people who have been displaced, except in new emergency cases. Inflation is high and the government is months behind in paying salaries for civil servants. Please pray that God gives wisdom, faith, and love to the church here, and enables leaders to minister to people who are suffering. We pray that God brings redemption, hope, and renewed unity out of this time of suffering. We pray often for your church, that God’s love and power would shine through you as you seek to minister to hurting people in your community and the world. We are grateful for you and always appreciate hearing from you.
Our recent newsletter describes how God was at work in the class that Bob taught last semester at NTC, and you can find it at https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/missionconnections/letter/please-go-and-listen-to-my-students/
Bob will not be teaching next semester and is using the opportunity to focus on his doctoral research about the integration of the Gospel with cultures here in South Sudan. He is
traveling to a region called Kodok next week, and we appreciate your prayers for a safe and meaningful visit, as well as unity and healing among the people of that region. He will be doing some research on the church there as well as joining an ecumenical peace delegation.
Kristi continues to serve with a team facilitating healing and reconciliation workshops. They were able to train several new facilitators in March of this year from different parts of South Sudan. Please pray that God continues to open doors and bring healing and transformation to people who are hurting.
We are grateful for you and always appreciate hearing from you.
Gratefully,
Bob and Kristi Rice, Mission Co-workers, PC(USA)
